Greek Driver Gets Higher Sentence in UK Teen Death

Rhian-SebbageATHENS, (AP) — A Greek appeals court has increased the sentence imposed on a local taxi driver over the stabbing death of a British teenager holidaying on the resort island of Zakynthos, Greece.
The 23-year-old driver, Stelios Morfis, was convicted of causing deadly bodily injury to 18-year-old Robert Sebbage in 2011, and sentenced the next year to 11 years in prison.
But defense lawyer Constantinos Argyropoulos said Wednesday a court in the western port of Patras has now ordered that Morfis must serve a total of 16 years and four months after an appeal from prosecutors.
The driver has apologized for the stabbing, saying he lashed out with a pocket knife after being taunted by a group of British youths.
