A 38-year-old woman killed her own baby just a few minutes after it was born, shocking people all over Greece.
The modern-day Medea gave birth alone in her home, in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on July 12, without saying anything to anyone, not even her husband, who never knew she was pregnant. The 38-year-old woman gave birth and proceeded to lock the infant in the closet, leaving it inside until the baby died of asphyxiation. The strong smell that came from the closet after a while, forced her to throw the infant’s body in the trash.
Her crime was revealed when the woman had to visit the hospital in Thessaloniki due to after-birth complications. The doctors realized that the woman had given birth recently and informed her husband as well as the authorities. The Greek police proceeded to thoroughly search the couple’s home and discovered the body of the infant.
