Ancient Greece Themed Brothel Uncovered in Cyprus

Ancient-Greece-Themed-Brothel-Uncovered-in-CyprusThe 44-year-old Russian owner of an ancient Greece themed brothel in Cyprus was arrested in Limassol after a raid that resulted in several arrests.
The brothel operated under the cover of a luxury spa. The facade of the building was made to look like Parthenon, while inside it was decorated to resemble ancient Greek and Roman baths.
According to the spa website, it “focused on providing relaxing services with the highest levels of customer satisfaction – we will do everything we can to meet your expectations.”
The women who were arrested came from Bulgaria, Romania, Morocco and Moldova. In accordance with the brothel’s theme, the women were dressed in tunics, an option that was also available for the clients.
On Tuesday night, two police officers visited the spa undercover and paid 50 euros to gain access to its facilities, spa treatment, massage and jacuzzi. Later they were informed that they would have to pay an additional 50 euros in order to be able to have sex with the women. At that moment the officers identified themselves and came in contact with Immigration Services, the Criminal Investigation Department and the Crime Prevention Unit of Limassol.
The law concerning prostitution in Cyprus is complicated. Even though prostitution is not illegal, women are not allowed to go after clients. If they do, they will be arrested for solicitation. In regards to bars and cabarets where prostitutes work, the patrons are usually charged with forcing women to have sex. In those cases the women are put in a witness protection program in order to be able to testify and then they are deported.
