Greek Officials Will Meet with Troika in Paris

troikaGreek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras requested that the next meeting with the troika of international lenders will take place in Paris on September 3. At the end of the month a small-scale evaluation will take place in Athens and it is expected to last only a few days.
Samaras has been discussing a change of policy regarding the troika evaluations for quite some time. The Greek side believes that inspections in Athens cause damage by giving the impression that they are degrading for the government and the people of Greece.
Therefore, the representatives of IMF, ECB and the European Commission have agreed to meet in Paris September 3-5. The troika and the Greek government aim to discuss the country’s issues in order for the program implementation to move forward.
According to an IMF official, after the meeting in Paris, the heads of the troika and the technical committees will visit Athens at the end of September, where they plan to stay for a few days. The new model serves both sides, as the negotiations will not be affected by external factors. The meetings will take place at the IMF offices in Paris.
Greece has been struggling for years in order to meet the conditions set by troika. The next meeting regarding the bailout loan is expected to be even tougher, even though the Greek government is hoping for some leniency, after the low Euro zone economy pace.
Moreover, according to Greek news, the Greek ministers of finance, administrative reform, and development, who will be present at the meeting in Paris, are expecting to approve new measures to make the country’s debt more sustainable.
