Museum Guards Threaten to Cancel August Full Moon Events

august full moon GreeceIn 2010 the association of Greek museum guards agreed to work on the night of August Full Moon in order to allow Greeks and the thousands of tourists to admire the view of the biggest full moon in the night sky from Greece’s most iconic sites. The association had made this agreement under the condition that the Greek Ministry of Culture would pay guards overtime for such events.
However, yesterday, July 29, four years after the initial agreement, the Greek museum guards association announced their decision to not work during the events of this year’s August Full Moon or any other event that is outside their regular work schedule.
This decision was made mainly due to the Ministry Culture’s failure to address the compensation issue of museum guards who have been working on special events outside their scheduled hours.
