Where Do Greeks Spend Their Vacation?

chania-Greek vacationChania in Crete is the top vacation destination for Greeks during the month of August, according to data released by the online hotel search engine Trivago. The island of Skopelos comes second, leaving Skiathos in third place.
Meanwhile, Agios Georgios in Naxos was also one of the most popular destinations and was placed 4th in Trivago’s ratings, while Chora of Naxos was in 7th place. Many Greeks chose the picturesque city of Parga for their vacation, placing it 5th on the list.
Parikia, on the island of Paros won 9th place, while it appears that the village of Naoussa was not as popular this year, since it was ranked in 18th place. The top ten list of vacation destinations for Greeks was completed by the beautiful city of Rhodes (9th place).
Moreover, Sivota came 11th, while Perissa and Fira in Santorini were 12th and 14th respectively. A large number of Greeks also chose to spend their vacation near Laganas, one of the most beautiful beaches in Zakynthos, which was 13th on Trivago’s list.
The Greek island of Ios was placed 15th, closely followed by Rethymno in Crete and the island of Mykonos, which is famous for its vibrant nightlife.
The settlement of Nikiana and the town of Vasiliki in Lefkada, were ranked 18th and 19th, while Istanbul was the 20th most popular vacation destination for Greeks for the month of August.
The Trivago survey data was accumulated between January 1, 2014 and July 31, 2014, and it only includes vacation bookings that are longer than 5 days.
