"I'm an Aθenian too" Application Advertises Athens

athensAthenians are enthusiastic, hospitable people who know how to reinvigorate the old Classical myth. At least these are some of their characteristics, according to a new application that aims to “fill the world” with Athenians.
Tuesday, the “I’m an Aθenian too” campaign was introduced in a joint presentation by the Hoteliers Association of Attica and the Saronic Gulf, the Marketing Greece organization and Athens International Airport. The new initiative aims to advertise the Greek capital with an internet application that can be easily downloaded.
A video shows the major attractions of Athens: sun, sea, ancient monuments and vibrant city life. It invites visitors not just to visit the Greek capital, but to become a part of it. When tourists download the “I’m an Aθenian too” app on their smartphones, they have the chance to submit a picture of what they consider the most characteristic element of Athens. Then they can choose to post their photo – stamped with the “I’m an Aθenian too” slogan – on social media. The participants are automatically entered into a competition to win a holiday for two in Athens.
According to the campaign site, an “Athenian” is someone who understands the meaning of hospitality, is inspired by history, loves different tastes and enjoys the blue sea that surrounds the city.
