Greek Health Minister Makis Voridis presented an electronic Health Insurance File for each individual patient covered by Greece ‘s National Organization for the Provision of Healthcare Services (EOPYY), which he said would allow careful control and cross-checking of all health spending by the state healthcare system.
The file will include all information on medication, examinations and other health services received by EOPYY patients, allowing EOPYY to have immediate access to the electronic health profile of each individual in the system.
“With all the data in electronic form, there will be better management of the organization’s funds,” Voridis said, allowing for a clamp-down on delinquent behavior of every kind in the health system.
From the start of 2015, he added, an application for the issue of an electronic card to each patient, through which patients will be able to use EOPYY medical services, will be set up and gradually put into implementation.
