euroworking groupThe Euroworking group wants to see negotiations between Greece and the troika end in due time, while Athens is looking for a way out of the negotiations deadlock as time is running out.
In today’s meetings at Maximos Mansion and the Ministry of Finance, the Greek government will have to decide the next step on the negotiations with the international creditors as time is running out. Athens sees the period between December 1 and December 3 as a good time for a round of talks in Paris or via teleconference. If there is a round of talks at that period and an agreement is reached, then, Greece can make the deadline of December 8, date of the next Eurogroup.
After yesterday’s meeting between representatives of the European finance ministers, Europe is determined to see negotiations end soon and they don’t want to see the existing bailout program extended. They recommended to both sides, Greece and the troika, to come to an agreement and end the review soon.
Time is of the essence and Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras will have to come up soon with final proposals for the final round of negotiations with Greece’s international creditors.
The Greek government maintains utmost secrecy in the meetings of the negotiating team. Every decision taken to fight in the external front may have repercussions in the home front. allegedly, Samaras has approached European country leaders for support. However, Germany seems to support the strict attitude of the troika and Angela Merkel seems to be in favor of the extension of the bailout program.
