Northern Greece: Teacher Accused of Sexually Harassing Student

teacherA female teacher in Epirus, northern Greece is being accused of sexually harassing a student. According to the young girls parents the teachers was using social media to send erotic messages the student.
After an investigation conducted by the Cyber Crime Unit of the Greek police, it was found the woman’s social media accounts were full of such messages and it was determined that the teacher had in fact sexually harassed the young girl.
The student’s parents have decided to sue and the teacher is now facing serious charges. According to the police investigation, the teacher had been using the school as a place where she could find young girls to seduce.
“As soon as we found out about the incident the teacher was removed from the school,” said the Greek Deputy Education Minister, Alexandros Dermetzopoulos. “We have passed the necessary amendment in the Parliament, so in the event of such offenses the teacher is immediately removed from the classroom.”
“This case, however, was somewhat different in the sense that the woman was a substitute teacher, therefore her contract was immediately terminated,” said the Deputy Education Minister, adding that when such issues occur the government requests the society’s cooperation so that the necessary measures are immediately taken.
