google-earth-crimesA YouTube channel uploaded a video featuring the top 10 crimes that have been caught on Google Earth. The list included prostitutes, drug dealers and thieves who were caught by authorities across the world thanks to Google’s satellite program.
One of the crimes that were included in the top 10 list involves tax evaders is Greece. After the financial crisis, the Greek Financial and Economic Crime Unit (SDOE) has been using Google Earth’s Street View add-on in order to find tax evaders. People with secret swimming pools or others who had declared their house smaller than it actually was were caught by Greek authorities, reaching a total of 16.650 violations.
Google Earth is a virtual globe, map and geographical information program established by Google in 2005. Its add-on program Google Street View launched in the United States in 2007, and has since expanded to include cities and rural areas worldwide.
