Snowfall in Greece
Very low temperatures and adverse weather conditions will prevail in Greece starting from Monday and for the next three days.
Rain is currently falling in Athens and it is snowing in the mountainous areas of central and eastern Attica as well as of Evia, the Peloponnese, Crete and the Cyclades islands.
Snow is expected to fall in semi-mountainous areas and in lowlands on Tuesday, the head of the Hellenic Meteo Service forecast department Chryssoula Petrou told ANA-MPA, adding that “it might snow in Athens on Tuesday afternoon.”
The phenomena will be intense in eastern Attica, Evia, Sporades and the Cyclades islands as well as Crete while it is expected to snow in coastal areas too.
The snowfall will start to fade from Wednesday afternoon but the extremely low temperatures will continue.
According to Petrou, the frost will be extremely intense in central and northern Greece. In some parts of the country there will be total frost and the temperatures will remain below zero throughout the day.
