Defending champion Olympiakos beat hosts Xanthi 3-1 (video) to overtake PAOK into first place in the Greek league Sunday.
At the league’s halfway point, Olympiakos is a point ahead of PAOK, which lost 3-0 to Asteras on Saturday, and six over Panathinaikos, a 5-0 winner over Ergotelis Sunday.
Costas Mitroglou scored in the 19th and 53rd minutes, with headers from an Alexandro Dominguez free-kick and corner kick. Mathieu Dossevi added a goal in the 30th and Adrian Lucero scored a consolation goal for Xanthi in the 82nd.
PAOK was overwhelmed 3-0 at Asteras on Saturday (video).
Asteras had already blown two chances, including a missed penalty, before Yiannis Yianniotas opened the scoring in the ninth minute.
Khalifa Sankare made it 2-0 in the 30th, and four minutes later had another effort saved on the line by PAOK forward Klaus Athanassiadis.
Yianniotas added his second goal at the stroke of halftime.
