Greek Politician Promises to Donate Land if Elected

miltiadis-TzalalidisThe Greek 85-year-old landowner Militadis Tzalalidis has promised to donate 3,000 hectares of land in Grevena, northern Greece to citizens of the country if he is elected as a member of the Greek Parliament in the elections of January 25.
Tzalidis could have been nominated for the Guinness Book of World Records twice in his life. His first nomination would be in regards to his party’s name, which is the longest that has ever been recorded in political history. The party that he founded was called “Independent Reforming Left Wing, Reforming Right Wing, Reforming PASOK, Reforming Nea Dimokratia, Say No to War, Party Business Land for Free, Debt Clear, Saving Lives, Pan-agricultural Labor Movement of Greece.”
His second nomination would have come in 2012 for receiving only one vote — his own — in the national elections of June 2012, even though he was a candidate in the first Athens district and Attica district. In the elections of May 2012 his party had received 199 votes in the same districts.
Landowner Miltiadis Tzalazidis has also been a candidate in previous national elections, with Kostis Stephanopoulos’ party, Democratic Renewal (DIANA), Vassilis Leventis’ Union of Centrists and Dimitris Tsovolas’ Democratic Social Movement (DIKKI) in 2004.
In the 2009 elections he created his own party “Land for Free, Debt Clear, Pan-agricultural Labor Movement of Greece” (PAEKE).
