European Police issued an alert on Saturday that will be in effect until Saturday, January 17, and involves seven jihadists’ names who might conduct terrorist acts. One or more of them may be hiding in Greece.
The Europol warning was sent to all European countries in the aftermath of the bloody terrorist attacks in Paris last week that cost 17 lives. Europol Director Rob Wainwright said this is the biggest terrorist threat since 9/11, with 5,000 Islamist fanatics at large in Europe returning from the Syrian front.
Greece is among EU countries put on alert by Europol for possible acts of terrorism by jihadists using cars packed with explosives, a Greek Police official, who prefered to remain anonymous, said on Tuesday.
He also said the Europol warning involves one or more of seven jihadists whose names and photographs are being circulated by Europol after the terrorist attacks in France. The jihadists have been trained in Yemen and have connections in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Russia. European Police is asking all EU members to notify them if any of the seven suspects have passed through border controls and be on alert in case they do.
