SYRIZA and European Parliament Member Manolis Glezos was the keynote speaker at the rally against austerity held yesterday at the Stock Exchange Square in Brussels.
The demonstration rally, one of many in major European and Greek cities, was in support of the Greek government in today’s critcal meeting of euro zone finance ministers in Brussels to negotiate on the Greek debt issue. European citizens showed their solidarity to the Greek people who have suffered after five years of austerity dictated by Greece’s bailout program.
Speaking to the assembled, Mr. Glezos stated that in order to save financial institutions, people of Europe were robbed. “The most striking thing is that we have gathered in front of the stock market as a reaction against the same financial forces everyone tried to save by robbing the Greek people and other peoples,” the 92-year-old Greek politician said.
