Homeless Man Burned to Death Trying to Get Warm

ASTHENOFORO_NEO_517_355A homeless man was found burned to death in the Ampelokipi neighborhood of Athens. Authorities say the man had lit a fire trying to get warm and was accidentally burned to death.
The man was approximately 50 years old and his identity is unknown, with authorities suspecting that he was a foreigner.
The man had found shelter from the bitter cold setting some blankets in a building recess. He apparently set fire on some cardboard pallets to get warm and his blankets caught fire while he was sleeping.
His body was found bearing severe burns, but is not clear yet if the death was caused by the fire. Authorities say there is a possibility the man died from the cold and then the fire spread and burned his body.
Harsh weather has hit Greece since Tuesday with very low temperatures and snow.
