Six Turkish Fighter Jets Violate Greek Air Space

Just days after the provocative violation of the Athens FIR by Turkish F-16 fighter jets, in the cockpit of one of which was the the Commander of the Turkish Air Force General Akin Ozturk, six more Turkish aircraft illegally entered the Greek air space again today.

The six F-16 fighter jets violated the Athens FIR and flew over the Aegean Sea and the islands of Makronisi, Fournoi and Agathonisi between Lesvos and Chios in eastern Greece. According to a Hellenic National Defense General Staff (GEETHA) statement, the Turkish pilots’ flight lasted for about 30 minutes before being chased off by Greek air force planes. All Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted, according to international rules and established practice, the statement said.
