German Media: Greece Likely to Sign 3rd Bailout

architecture-frankfurt-european-central-bank-coop-himmelblau_aGreece is about to take out a new 30-billion-euro loan for two years and sign a third bailout agreement by June, according to German news agency MNI.
The report cites a European Union official who revealed that discussions for a new program had started in September 2014 and that a third bailout is very likely.
The European official estimated that Greece may need more than 30 billion euros over the next two years and that a third bailout is very likely.
According to the MNI source, several Eurogroup officials are not convinced that the new Greek government can meet its obligations and EU will not provide any debt relief for the next four months.
In other German media reports, the country’s finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble is making preparations for a new Greek bailout. A Rheinische Post report says that besides Schaeuble, other German politicians have accepted such a possibility.
SPD policy spokesman Carsten Schneider said on Friday’s German parliament vote on Greece’s bailout extension: “At some point we will have to debate about a new program for Greece but this is not a matter for today, just the extension.”
Earlier this week Schneider had said that before summer the question will be whether Greece will remain in the euro zone or whether it will be given a third bailout of a few “tens of billions of euros.”
