German Tabloid 'Bild' Keeps Provoking Greece

BILD
German tabloid Bild has published -for the first time ever- an article written in Greek, in which it calls on Greece to return to the drachma. Over the last few days, the tabloid has been openly attacking Greece on the bailout program extension agreement.
After the “NEIN” campaign that refused to provide further funding to Greece, Bild director Kei Diekmann, known for his close relationship with Chancellor Angela Merkel, made a supposedly compassionate intervention. Referring to Greece, he claimed that the country should return to its national currency.
The well-known German journalist and member of the country’s elite, who runs the most popular German newspaper (sixth in the world), suggested that Europe should give Greece a break and allow it to exit the Eurozone. This opinion is slowly gaining ground among Germans.
Diekmann believes that the euro is a “life-jacket filled with lead” for Greece. However, he does not mention any of the possible consequences for Greece, such as the successive devaluations of the country’s national currency.
Diekmann wrote that the two parties should reach a compromise, at the cost of Greece’s exit from the common currency. This solution, however, is highly risky, especially for Greece, but also for the Eurozone.
