Greek Defense Minister Sends Arms Procurement Files to Prosecutor

kammenos_Tsipras Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos announced on Tuesday he submitted two files relating to arms procurement to a public prosecutor in order to investigate possible bribery or corruption.
“For two of the cases [being investigated] we already have evidence – very serious evidence – of possible felonies and a lot of money, huge amounts, which have been paid by the Greek people and for which those responsible will be investigated both on a criminal and civil level,” Kammenos told journalists after a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
The Defense Minister said they agreed to send the files to Justice, even though the Internal Affairs Committee is still investigating them, “so that authorities can connect them with cases already being scrutinised by the prosecutor,” he added.
The two cases relate to the purchase of NH-90 helicopters that dates from 2003 and the purchase of German submarines dating from 1998.
