Former Greek PM Samaras Suspects Phone-Tapping

antonis-samaras_12092014110149Former prime minister Antonis Samaras claims there are serious indications that his cell phone is tapped.
According to what Samaras told his close associates, he is suspecting that the phone tapping started a few days before the January elections but has been intensified in the last three weeks. He referred to the cell phone he is using to communicate with close associates and persons of trust in Greece and abroad.
According to real.gr, after Samaras filed the complaint, several New Democracy MPs stepped up saying that their personal phones are being monitored as well.
The issue was brought up by an ANT1 television report on Tuesday. ND spokesperson Costas Karagkounis said that, Samaras must follow all legal procedures.
Citizen Protection Minister Yiannis Panousis said he was never informed of such an incident. Also, Greek Police officials said that there hasn’t been an official complaint filed so far by the former prime minister or other ND members.
