IMF: Greece Most Unhelpful Client in History

IMFInternational Monetary Fund representatives who work on the Greek bailout told their euro zone colleagues that Greece is the most unhelpful country in the 70-year history of the organization, according to a Bloomberg report.
Officials from the IMF, the European Central Bank and the European Commission complained in a conference call that Greek officials are not cooperative and they do not adhere to the conditions of the bailout extension agreement that was signed on February 20.
On Tuesday, there was a scheduled teleconference between the creditors’ representatives and Greek officials to report on the progress of the review. The Greek side did not have a report ready and insisted that there will be talks on that on Thursday’s European Union Summit, which is completely unrelated to the technical talks between the two sides.
However, the IMF disputed the report. “Your story regarding reputed comments by the IMF is without any basis in fact. No such remark has been made,” said Bruno Silvestre, an organization spokesperson.
A German finance official said trying to get the Greek government to present a solid economic reform policy was like trying to ride a dead horse.
