Obama Calls on Merkel to Find Realistic Solution on Greece

obamaU.S. President Barack Obama called on German Chancellor Angela Merkel and requested finding a realistic solution on the Greek issue.
The telephone conversation between the two leaders on Wednesday evening was about the European Summit on Thursday where European heads of state will discuss the Ukraine and Russia issues.
During the conversation, the American President stressed the need to resolve the problem of Greece’s bailout. According to information, Barack Obama told the German Chancellor that there should be a realistic solution, an agreement based on reforms so that Greece returns to growth within the euro zone.
In February, the U.S. President had said publicly that austerity is not the solution to Greece’s problem and what is needed is a strategy of growth, within the euro zone. He also stressed that Greece needs reforms, especially in tax collection.
It should be noted that Angela Merkel is expecting Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Berlin on Monday to discuss Greece’s bailout.
