New Democracy: Government Should Not Try to Take Credit for Work Already Done

new-democracy-Greek-political-party-SamarasMain opposition New Democracy accused Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Saturday of trying to take credit for the achievements of the previous government of Antonis Samaras.
“The 2-billion-euro package [of EU funds] announced by Tsipras is the well-known result achieved after the negotiations of Mr. Samaras at the end of 2013, which was eventually agreed on for the period 2014-2020 from the same European budget,” party spokesman Costas Karagounis said.
The spokesman also said that a large number of these funds have already been earmarked for specific social needs.
“The government should focus on absorbing these funds within the year and by front-loading 2015, instead of taking credit for work which has already been done,” Karagounis added.
