A new action set up to help Greece absorb more EU funding appears to have produced the first results, as the country absorbed nearly 183 million euros as of mid-March, when it began its work, it was revealed.
According to data sent by the European Commission to ANA-MPA, Greece has been paid the following amounts, from March 13 to April 23:
108 million euros from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development; 52.19 mln from the European Social Fund; 20.11 mln from the European Regional Development Fund; and 2.57 mln from the Youth Employment Initiative.
The setting up of the team was decided during a meeting of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras with European Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker, to speed up the absorption of the current NSRF funding programme and the disbursement of unused funds from the previous one.
Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis represents the European Commission, as its vice president, and Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs Nikos Chountis the Greek government.
