Greece's Gambling Industry Flourishes Again

Greece’s gambling industry thrives again after the non so prosperous years that followed 2009 and the beginning of Greek crisis. According to the Greek Gaming Industry Association (EEEP), the Greek state received around €525 million in taxes in 2014 from gambling institutions.
Specifically, Greeks spent the noticeable amount of around €5.9 billion on betting games signifying a new promising era for the country’s gaming market.
The lovers of gambling excitement in Greece augmented their spendings on games of chance by 9% from the previous year, according to a relevant report that was published in Kathimerini newspaper.  They reached an average addition increase of around €15 per individual debt (€187 per individual debt in 2014, €172 in 2013).
OPAP, the Greek Organization of Football Prognostics, earned €3.8 billion of the total €5.9 billion, while €500m went to its subsidiary Hellenic Lotteries. Great revenues were noticed at the casinos, as well as, the Horse Racing Organization of Greece (ODIE).
