Cyprus Talks Resume

UN-led talks aiming to find a political settlement to reunite Cyprus, divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion, resumed this morning in the UN protected area, at the now defunct Nicosia International Airport.
This is the first meeting between Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and the new Turkish-Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, after the announcement on Monday that talks will resume by the UN Special Adviser Espen Barth Eide, following a dinner he hosted for the two leaders at Ledra Palace hotel, in the UN-controlled buffer zone.
In a statement before leaving the Presidential Palace for the meeting, Anastasiades said that he maintains high hopes for the prospects ahead and the future.
