Greek Foreign Minister Meets With American Hellenic Institute Board

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias met with the governing board of the Diaspora organization American Hellenic Institute (AHI) in order to discuss the coordination of joint actions to strengthen national efforts in every field.
AHI president and executive director Nick Larigakis had the chance to brief the Greek Foreign Minister on the contacts that the AHI board had made in Athens, and Cyprus.

The AHI governing board also met with President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos who focused on the historic opportunity to continue and complete the bi-communal talks that have already started in Cyprus, provided that the Turkish-Cypriot side and Turkey remain honest.
“I want to publicly acknowledge the Institute’s important role over the years. Its leading role, as well as its prestige and influence, not only within the Greek-American community but also in the US political institutions, will provide an opportunity for the Institute to play an important role on two levels at this critical juncture,” said Pavlopoulos.
Furthermore, he urged the AHI board members to help Greece exit from the deep crisis that is currently plaguing the country, but also the people.
AHI is a Greek-American organization founded in 1974 by Eugene Rossides in response to the Turkish occupation of Cyprus, to strengthen US-Greece and US-Cyprus relations, as well as relations within the Greek-American community.
AHI has been a part of many political activities and lobbying actions. AHI representatives have testified before Congress with great frequency on topics related to their interests, usually foreign aid proposals for Cyprus, Greece, Albania, Turkey or FYROM.
