Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stated on Tuesday that Greece has presented to international creditors a comprehensive list of reforms in order to achieve an agreement.
Tsipras spoke to the press after his visit to the education ministry. Referring to the ongoing negotiations with lenders, he said that the process is very difficult and there will be difficulties after a deal is signed. The difficulties lie on the creditors’ unrealistic demands, he said.
The prime minister reiterated that Greece’s proposals are realistic and that concessions should be made in order for the deal to be beneficial for both sides. If creditors accept the Greek proposal, that would be the end of scenarios about the division of Europe. It is up to the European institutions to decide whether they want a divided Europe or not, he said.
Tsipras also said that the Greek government works based on a plan for growth and is determined to succeed because it represents the majority of Greek people. The deal should not push Greece back into recession, but it should aim for growth and dignity for Greeks who have suffered five years of austerity.
Finally, the prime minister expressed his optimism that European leaders will seek a realistic solution to the Greek issue so that the whole of Europe can get out of the economic crisis.
Speaking on specifics of the technical discussions, the prime minister said that the proposal list that has been sent to creditors includes all the issues that the two sides have agreed on, however there are some unresolved issues. To these issues, European leaders are called to find a political solution, Tsipras said.
