Audit Committee: Greece’s Debt ‘Illegal, Illegitimate and Odious’

Tsipras_ZoiThe debt imposed on Greece and its residents by creditors directly infringes the human rights of Greeks and is “illegal, illegitimate and odious,” according to the preliminary report issued on Wednesday by the Audit Committee on Public Debt.

The Greek Parliament earlier released a six-page summary of the Committee’s preliminary findings during hearings conducted since April, when it was convened by Parliament President Zoe Konstantopoulou.

The summary stressed that the entire adjustment program imposed on Greece “was and remains a politically orientated program,” while challenged arguments that the policies imposed on Greece aimed to improve its capacity to pay back the debt.

It concluded that Greece was the victim of a “premeditated and organized” attack and of a “violent, illegal, and immoral mission” to shift private debt onto the public sector.

“All the evidence we present in this report shows that Greece not only does not have the ability to pay this debt, but also should not pay this debt first and foremost because the debt emerging from the Troika’s arrangements is a direct infringement of the fundamental human rights of the residents of Greece. Hence, we came to the conclusion that Greece should not pay this debt because it is illegal, illegitimate and odious,” the report said.

Among others, the report noted that the unsustainability of Greece’s debt was evident to all involved from the outset, yet Greek authorities and other European governments, with the assistance of the media, had “conspired against the restructuring of public debt in 2010 in order to protect financial institutions.”

As the EU bankers and puppet politicians continue applying their thumb-screws to Greece’s government, there are few indications of rational reporting on this crisis – in either the mainstream or Alternative media. This is regrettable as the facts (and the overall scenario) could not be simpler.

Greece is bankrupt. This should be no surprise to anyone, as it has never been solvent since it declared debt-default for the first time, in 2012. As a matter of basic arithmetic; the only way that Greece’s economy can ever improve, and Greece can ever have a future is if the EU (Greece’s primary creditor) agrees to substantial debt-reduction. This is nothing more than elementary logic.

The EU has absolutely refused to consider any debt-relief. Its position is as simple as it is sadistic:

1 It demands piling more debt onto this bankrupt economy (which will cause much more economic harm to Greece).

2 It also demands more “Austerity” (which will also cause much more harm to Greece’s economy), as a “condition” for burying it under even more debt.Greece has already been subjected to at least twice as much economic blood-sucking as any other nation. This is why even after already defaulting on 75% of its debts it’s still bankrupt. Its economy has already been hollowed-out/blood-sucked to the point where there is virtually nothing left. The Vampires (IMF/FED/ECB) are literally trying to squeeze (more) blood out of a stone.

This is why Greece’s (new) honest, honourable government refuses to back down. It knows that any additional Austerity will do far more harm than good. It knows (as does any thinking adult) that you cannot pile more debt onto a bankrupt economy. It rejects both of the EU’s extreme, sadistic, insane demands, because it has no choice.
It has promised the people of Greece that unlike past Greek regimes, and unlike all of the other Traitor Governments of the EU, it will make their lives and their economy better, not worse. In return; the Vampires simply refuse to negotiate. More debt. More Austerity. Period.
The Vampires have never engaged in one minute of real “negotiating”, as they have already publicly stated – in absolutely unequivocal terms – that they will never accept any debt-reduction for Greece!!!
Good luck Mr.Tsipras, you are a hero!

If Germany paid war compensation, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine would take 98% and Greece 0.01%. Assuming limited ammount, Greece would get peanuts.

What is true from your post is this sentence:
    >> Greece is bankrupt. <<

Why Greece is bankrupt? Because the Greek state is dysfunctional and unable to collect taxes from rich Greeks.

What Greece government shall do? Collect more taxes.

Do you think Tsipras will do it?

  • Daan

Huh Adam, Greek don’t pay taxes, Tsipras is like Santa Claus he promises them things but doesn’t deliver it, he wants the bad capitalist to pay it. This is his left wing ideology

  • Adam Olszewski

Would you like to compete with Poland, Ukraine or Belarus? Poland was forced by Soviets to declare German compensation over in 1953 in order to support East Germany. Greece did the same being independent country.

    A TRILLION to be exact.

  • durka durka

What i know is that varoufakis cant stop talking about taxing the rich and EU ignores that and want to talk about what time the pharmacies will open, so instead of spewing propraganda along with “all greeks are lazy” perhaps you should face reallity for a change and reallize greece couldnt possibly end like that becuase they are lazy and dont pay taxes.

  • durka durka

yeah becasue the right wing “we got the money no more cuts on wages” worked out so well they totally didnt lie.

Actually, if you follow the facts, you could realise the effect of IMF to ANY of the countries they enter. Yes that’s right, it is destroyed, because of that same greed you pretend does not exist. Which sadly means I cannot return the “favour” and advise you to learn something, as you are incapable to do so.

Personally, I never did anything, never stole, never paid fakelakis, worked hard (more than you can even imagine), and always lived within my life means. And there are a lot of us. Your propaganda (same to all the media funded by banks – oh are you surprised?) may appeal to other who try to find excuses for their own mishandling, but when you blame simple people, your thinking is immediately and mathematically flawed.

  • Ακρίτας

More and more propaganda. You try to repeat the same nonsense to convince others. Please read some better media, for example, those written by nobel winners, instead of hearing yourself. Or you may go to those countries and live there. I would surely prefer Greece.

“IMF to any country”? Just your verbiage, you have zero facts. You did not reply to my statement about Korea (broke after World War Two), Thailand and other countries. Don’t you get it? Take responsibility, only a child says…”Someone else did it”. You (the nation) did it to yourselves. I’m not anti-Greece, but if you don’t change and join the modern world, the world will pass you buy.

  • stan miller

What an ad hominem attack. I’m not your nemesis. I want to have a discussion with you and you attack me. You don’t reply to my questions or statements. Why Greece? I don’t see Korea, Thailand, Costa Rica, Chile in this situation. There are many Greeks that say what I say. You have to have a change in national attitude. You have to get rid of that 1930’s mentality of rich vs. poor, banks are evil. Even the African countries are growing because of adapting to the modern world.
