During a parliamentary hearing in Berlin, Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said that Germany is initiating emergency plans in case Greece fails to reach an agreement with creditors on the release of new bailout funds by June 30, Brendan Greeley revealed on “Bloomberg Surveillance.”
According to members who participated in the off-camera German Parliament Finance Committee on Wednesday, Schaeuble stated that “nothing is ready in order to reach a decision on Thursday during the meeting of Eurogroup Finance Ministers.”
The same sources disclosed that Schaeuble assured that his government is making contingency plans if there is no bailout deal until June 30 and Greece is driven outside the Eurozone.
Furthermore, according to a recent report on German magazine Spiegel, Schaeuble criticized the recent aggressive comments of European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker toward the Greek government in a positive way.
Dijsselbloem has little hope of Greek deal on Thursday
On his part, Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem said there is little possibility to find a solution for Greece until tomorrow’s meeting.
Speaking to journalists, Dijsselbloem pointed out that the institutions expect alternative proposals from the Greek side regarding the five-page proposal introduced to the Greek government.
