Parliamentary committees
Greece’s Parliament president Zoi Konstantopoulou late Thursday released the preliminary report of the Debt Truth Committee and stated that “We have come to the conclusion that the debt is illegal, unlawful, odious, disgraceful and non sustainable. It is of major importance that there are serious arguments that doubt the debt’s legality, unilateral suspension of debt’s payment.”
During the press conference the members of the committee proposed ‘suspension of payments’ to the lenders. Konstantopoulou also explained that these are the results of the first stage of the Committee’s research and a full audit control will follow.
On his part, the scientific advisor of the committee Eric Toussaint said that “the damage is so big that the Greek state can proceed to a suspension of the debt’s payment” underlining that the finds can be used by the government which is conducting a tough negotiation.
