Thessaloniki: Blogtrotters 2015 Goes Viral on Social Media

blogtrotters_2015Forty-five travel, lifestyle and urban bloggers from Germany, France, UK, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Poland participated in Blogtrotters 2015, an annual event for the promotion of Greece and especially Thessaloniki, Halkidiki and Mount Olympus. This year, the event took place between June 17 and 20. The enthusiastic bloggers’ images and experience reviews spread instantly online, going viral in just a few days.

The bloggers discovered Thessaloniki’s culinary history, through a feast of flavors, colors and scents at the city’s various flea markets, while they came in contact with the modern and old city and its multifaceted cuisine. They also visited contemporary creative places in Thessaloniki, in three different areas around the historic center, the White Tower, the Ancient Agora and Athonos Square where they met with creative teams operating in the city.

Meanwhile, the Blogtrotters on Mount Olympus, visited the vineyards of a traditional winery in Pieria, where they tasted local wine varieties and flavors. They also trekked on the mountain and enjoyed the coastal area of Pieria and its crystal clear blue sea waters. Then, the bloggers visited the exotic Halkidiki for a unique beach party and a unique Greek summer experience.

Germany, the United States, the UK and of course Greece were the event’s engagement champions since their posts were transmitted in more than 150 countries worldwide, in less than 24 hours.

Blogtrotters 2015 was organized under the auspices of the Central Macedonia Region and Thessaloniki Municipality, with Aegean Airlines as a strategic partner.

Furthermore, the event took place with the help and collaboration of the Thessaloniki Hotels Association, Thessaloniki National Tourism Organization, Thessaloniki Convention Bureau, Tourist Guides Association of Thessaloniki, Association of Travel Agencies of Macedonia-Thrace, Tourist Organization Halkidiki and Pierikos Organization of Tourism and Promotion, with the support of Domotel Les Lazaristes, Makedonia Palace, Porto Palace, Holiday Inn, Electra Palace, Poseidon Palace, Litohoro Olympus Resort, Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Kouzina Food & Drink, Kitchen Bar, Restaurant Palati, Thessaloniki Walking Tours, Lindy Hop Greece, Creativity Platform, White Sand beach bar and The Gang music band.
