Russian users usually visit Yandex.Travel to search for their favorite travel destinations, compare prices and then make their purchases through third-party sites.
Greece, Spain and Italy used to be among their top choices. This summer, though, the rising tide of Russian tourists and their typically lavish holiday spending in Greece belongs to the past, as Russian searches on the web recorded a serious drop of about 27% in June compared to the same period last year.
However, Greece was still in third place among the destinations with the most searches on the Russian market last month, holding around 7% of the market share.
In first place, with a market share of around 37%, one can find Turkey and in second, with a percentage of 18%, Egypt. Cyprus and Montenegro concluded the top 5 list.
Notable losses of approximately 40% and 35.6%, respectively, were also recorded in Spain and Italy.
