Flashback to Ancient Greece's Brilliant Inventions

InventionsAn exhibition, entitled “The amazing inventions of the ancient Greeks,” hosting functional replicas of some of the most inventive ancient Greek creations, will be held at the Herakleidon Museum in Athens from August 1, 2015, to January 10, 2016.
Visitors will have the opportunity to embark on a mystic trip to the past through a marvelous selection of exhibits. Examining small but significant details from Philo’s “robot-servant,” Aeneas’ “hydraulic telegraph,” Hero’s “cinema,” Ctesibius’ automatic clock, Ptolemy’s astrolabe and the Antikythera “analog computer,” everyone would agree that these creations are an indisputable proof of Greece’s leading role in the evolution of Western civilization.
These functional models, which were created after a scrupulous research on Ancient Greek, Arabic and Latin literature, based on information obtained through thorough examination of vase paintings, as well as relevant archaeological findings, now belong to the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology Kostas Kotsanas that operates at Katakolon port and Ancient Olympia.
