World Cup 2018 Qualifiers: Tricky Task for Greece

UEFA
The draw that took place in Russia on Saturday, July 25, determined that if Greece qualifies for its third FIFA Wold Cup finals in a row, the team will be placed in the same pool as fellow 2014 finalists Bosnia and Belgium.
According to the draw results, the Greek national football team will face Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Estonia and Cyprus. This will be no easy task based on the team’s history, especially in the past eight months, given that Greece has lost twice against the Faroe Islands.
Greece’s poor performance meant that the team was placed in the third pool. The qualifying round, which will begin on September 2016, will determine which team will advance to the 2018 finals. The top team automatically wins a spot in the finals, while the runner-up will negotiate a home-and-away playoff.
Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) chief Giorgos Girtzikis, as well as two other officials, were present at the event in St. Petersburg, however, manager Sergio Markarian and team director and former player Giorgos Karagounis were absent.
