Greece Wins Bronze Medal in Men's Water Polo, Secures Place in Rio Olympics

ena1Greece’s national water polo team beat Italy 11-9 in the penalty shots and won the bronze medal in the World Championship at Kazan, Russia, on Saturday.
The victory secures the men’s water polo team a place in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
The Greek team led for most of the game but Italy came back and turned a 7-5 Greek lead to a 7-7 draw at the end, leading to a penalty shootout. Greece won 4-2 in the penalties for an overall 11-9 win.
President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Deputy Sports Minister Stavros Kontonis congratulated the men’s water polo team for their success and representing the country.
