Greek PM Tsipras: SYRIZA's Election Goal Is a Clear Four-Year Mandate

TsiprasSYRIZA’s election goal is a clear four-year mandate, Greek Prime Minister and party leader Alexis Tsipras said, according to sources, at the political secretariat’s meeting on Monday.
Tsipras ruled out the possibility of post-election cooperation with the systemic forces of the old political system.
Giving guidelines for SYRIZA‘s pre-election campaign, Tsipras stressed the need for a reorganization in the party and outward-looking action, sources said.
“We need to meet with society’s SYRIZA,” Tsipras noted and proposed a nationwide body consisting of Central Committee members, prefecture committee members and MPs to decide the election program.
Tsipras said that the campaign must not be allowed to devolve into a “civil war” of the Left and that SYRIZA must highlight a leftist radical program, in contrast to the neoliberal structure of Europe and the domestic “systemic bloc.”
“Our goal is to gain the people’s trust, to implement a program of progressive change for a gradual extrication of the country from supervision and Memoranda,” he noted.
The same sources said that Tsipras outlined SYRIZA’s aim in the upcoming elections, saying the Greek people must be asked to decide whether the government had been right to contend in the harsh negotiations of the last months and also whether its final choice not to lead the country to a mass economic disaster had been correct.
The electorate must decide whether there was someone else that could have brought a better agreement in the given conditions and correlations, and who will do the best job for the country in the negotiations over the debt at the end of the year, he added.
