Greece’s controversial former house speaker Zoe Konstantopoulou is ready to start a new party, according to a report in Efimerida ton Syntakton daily.
The report says that Konstantopoulou is expecting the official disbandment of the present parliament and election announcement before starting the necessary procedures.
The new party will cooperate with newly formed Popular Unity and other leftist organizations. According to the report, Konstantopoulou has approached Manolis Glezos — the emblematic figure of the Left and former SYRIZA member of the European Parliament — to ask him to participate in her new party.
On his part, Glezos said that SYRIZA and Popular Unity are not the only choices, saying that “something else may be formed.” Glezos also said that he will do “whatever people decides,” according to the report.
