Weapons and Explosives Found at Professor's Home in Northern Greece

weapons-kozaniA Greek police anti-terrorist unit raid revealed military-grade weapons and explosives in Kozani, in the home of a 57-year-old university professor.
Specifically, police found two military rifles and 2,000 bullets, 10 hand grenades, explosives and other military equipment in the professors abandoned home.
The Thessaloniki police anti-terrorist unit officers were led to the house after a tip off. The 57-year-old man who appears to be the owner of the military equipment claims to be a university professor in Leipzig and he stated that had purchased the weapons about 15 to 17 years ago. He even tried to correlate the weapons purchase with the fact that he is of Cretan origin, claiming that he bought the firearms for a festival on the island.
However, the professor’s explanation and his reasoning did not convince the anti-terrorist unit officers. Police are currently investigating the weapons in order to determine if they have been removed from a military base.
