European Central Bank Decreases ELA to Greece

ecbThe European Central Bank Governing Council decided on Thursday to reduce the Emergency Liquidity Assistance to Greece down to 89.1 billion euros.
The approximately 600 million euro decrease comes after a first 700 million euro decrease in August. Greek banks are expected to receive 10 billion euros from the third Greek bailout that was agreed on August 19. Additional funds from the bailout are expected to be poured in the country’s banking sector following a stress test in the fall.
The Greek economy is still operating under capital controls and Greek depositors are allowed to withdraw up to 420 euros per week.
