Two 17 Year-Olds Attack Refugees on Greek Island of Lesvos

Lervos_migrantsThe tension on the East Aegean Greek island of Lesvos continues to grow as the high number of migrants and refugees is overwhelming the island as well as the migrants and refugees themselves.
Two 17 year-old males attacked refugee families with Molotov cocktails at around 2 am on Sunday. After throwing the first cocktail to a Syrian family’s tent, the two teenagers threw a cocktail to another family, but the cocktail fell on a brick construction in the park and eventually diffused close to an Afghan family, according to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency. The family was not injured but a Syrian was hurt from the first cocktail, though the injuries have not been reported as serious.
The two teenagers were arrested on Sunday morning after being caught throwing the Molotov cocktails on camera.
Saturday evening was particularly tense as riot police clashed with migrants and refugees who tried to board a ship heading to Athens. Two more riot police units arrived in Lesvos on Sunday morning to assist local authorities.
The ship has been unable to leave the island. It was scheduled to leave at 5:30 am on Sunday but has been stranded at the port of Mytilene because authorities have been unable to process migrants and refugees and thus issue 2,500 tickets to board the ship.
The exact number of migrants and refugees on the island is unknown as many of them have not yet been processed.
