The head of the European Stability Mechanism Klaus Regling said he believes the International Monetary Fund will participate in the third Greek bailout, during a conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia on Monday.
“It has not been defined to what extent the IMF will contribute but I’m confident that they will participate later this year,” Regling said according to Reuters.
On Thursday, IMF spokesperson William Murray had said that the IMF’s participation in the program depends on debt relief to Greece and the implementation of the bailout’s prescribed reforms.
Reuters also reported that Regling claimed that the IMF will always have some kind of role in assisting the members states of the European Union, as these countries are also members of the IMF.
