Light Quake Shakes Greek Island of Lesvos

seismosΑ light earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale shook the Greek island of Lesvos on Thursday afternoon. According to the Geodynamics Institute of Athens, the quake’s epicentre was located 40km southwest of Lesvos in the Aegean Sea. No injuries or damages were reported.
Earthquakes are common in Greece and have historically caused widespread damage across central and southern Greece, Cyprus, Sicily and other neighboring regions. Last year, a series of strong earthquakes on the island of Kefalonia damaged hundreds of homes and injured more than a dozen people.
