Varoufakis on Greek Elections: I will Vote for Popular Unity

varoufakis-800x450Former finance minister of Greece Yanis Varoufakis stated on the internet that he will vote for Popular Unity because two of his former colleagues belong to the party.
In a statement he sent to website thepressproject.gr, Varoufakis revealed that he will support Popular Unity because his former fellow ministers in the cabinet Nadia Valavani and Costas Isichos are on the ballot in the Athens B district where he votes. He wrote that he was impressed by “their ethos, hard work and, especially, for the consistency with which they stood up against corruption and surrendering national sovereignty.”
The former minister also sent a message to Greek voters that urges them to cast a vote for the parties that are against the memorandum, excluding Golden Dawn.
Varoufakis claims that Sunday’s election has a dual purpose: to cancel the brave OXI vote that 62 percent of Greeks gave to the memorandum and legitimize the capitulation that followed the signing of the third memorandum.
He further claims that the third bailout agreement “is absolutely not sustainable”” and robs any Greek government of the tools needed to fight the oligarchy and end the crisis.
