A 68-year-old councilor of the Kavala Municipality in Macedonia, Northern Greece was arrested on Tuesday on animal abuse charges, according to the Greek media.
A video that has been posted online shows a man, allegedly the councilor in question, beating a dog in a field, while furiously ordering the animal to eat something. While the dog can be heard crying, three women interfere in the scene and force the man to stop beating the dog, although he initially prompted them to leave.
As a result of the beating the dog suffered, one of the dog’s eyes was left bleeding while the animal also had deep gashes, Kathimerini newspaper reports.
The following video uploaded by YouTube user paggaionet three days ago allegedly shows the man’s violent treatment of the dog.
