Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the UN on Tuesday, September 30. During the customary photo – op for the meting Ban Ki-moon said to Tsipras that he was surprised by how many media came to snap their their picture together.
“They must be very interested in you,” the Secretary General said to Tsipras, and the Greek Pm responded with a smile.

The agenda of the meeting
The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister discussed the increased movement of migrants and refugees towards Europe, and the challenges faced by Greece in that regard.
They also discussed the Cyprus talks and the Secretary-General welcomed the progress made by the leaders of the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities in the process. The Secretary-General underlined the importance of the Hellenic Republic ’s continued support in this context.
They exchanged views on the prospects for resolution of the “name” issue between Greece and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia .
