5th Russian Cinema Festival to Take Place on Greek Island of Rhodes

russian-film-festivalThe 5th Russian Film Festival of Rhodes opened its doors to the public on Tuesday, September 29th and it will last until Saturday, October 3rd. Several Russian cinema actors, as well as the Consul General of Russia gave a press conference along with the local Deputy Culture Mayor Teri Hatziioannou.
“In 2016 we will celebrate Russian and Greek culture,” said the Deputy Culture Mayor, during his speech, also noting that an exhibition of Nikos Floros’ works will be travelling to Russia. “We ask Russia to support Rhodes municipality in its claim for the title of ‘Cultural Capital 2021,’” he added.
The Consul General of Russia expressed his gratitude to the Municipality for their hospitality and valuable assistance in organizing the festival. Furthermore, he stressed that Rhodes was chosen due to its popularity and status as a well-known tourist destination. He said, indeed, that has not fallen as much in tourist arrivals from Russia to Rhodes. He also expressed his hope that the festival will create new possibilities for further development not only in Greek-Russian cultural relations, but with the island of Rhodes in particular.
To celebrate the festival opening Leda Film producer Elena Borisova and many prominent Russian actors arrived on the Greek island. Borisova thanked the Deputy Mayor noting that the people of Russia and Greece.
The festival is organized with the support of the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Rhodes, under the auspices of the Russian Embassy and Consulate in Greece.
