Greek PM Tsipras Discusses Debt and Refugee Issues with U.S. State Secretary Kerry

tsipras-kerry-2Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry discussed Greece’s debt restructuring, the refugee problem, the Cyprus issue, the FYROM name issue, energy issues and the turmoil in Syria and Ukraine.
Kerry underlined the TAP and IGB gas pipelines that would upgrade Greece’s place in the energy market, while he reiterated the U.S. support in solving the Cyprus problem and the FYROM name issue.
The Greek prime minister — who was accompanied by Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias — stressed the need for U.S. support to upgrade the United Nations mechanism for the refugees resettlement. He also asked for the U.S. to communicate to Turkey its responsibility on the settlement of the refugees and its participation in the talks for a viable solution to the Cyprus problem.
Regarding the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia name, Tsipras insisted on the Greek argument that there should be a compound name with a geographical limitation.
